 A devastating incident has shocked New York City as a woman was killed in a horrific arson attack on a subway train. The attack occurred on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on a southbound F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station in Brooklyn. The victim, who was reportedly asleep on the train, was intentionally set on fire. According to the criminal complaint, the suspect, Sebastian Zapeta, allegedly ignited the woman's clothing and then fanned the flames with his shirt, causing them to engulf her completely. The attack occurred as the train approached the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station, a major transit hub. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but tragically, the woman was pronounced dead.

It has also been reported that Zapeta is an unlawfully present Guatemalan citizen.
